TTM: Sign Size Design Review of Temporary Traffic Management Signs

In partnership with ARUP URS Consortium; on behalf of the Highways Agency

Driving simulator study conducted to assess the impacts of revisions of existing temporary traffic management signs on driver performance, understanding and preference. The objective of the study was to inform the re-design of signs placed in contraflow and narrow lanes temporary traffic management situations by the Highways Agency. The central goals were to improve sign comprehension, and potentially reduce size (with knock-on improvements in sign cost and manual handling difficulties).
