Virtuocity in Action with the scientists and researchers of tomorrow
As part of the University of Leeds’ Be Curious event, Virtuocity was delighted to welcome around 40 children and their families for an exciting day of discovery and hands‑on learning.

HIKER tested crossing awareness
Visitors had the opportunity to experience our state‑of‑the‑art driving simulator, truck simulator, and pedestrian simulator, stepping into immersive environments to explore how people interact with transport systems. From taking the driver’s seat to navigating as pedestrians, participants experienced first-hand how simulation helps us understand behaviour and improve road safety. Each child was given an Virtuocity Passport to help guide them through the tour and pick out what they could see and learn.
The curiosity and enthusiasm from our young visitors were truly inspiring. They engaged with the demonstrations, asked thoughtful and challenging questions, and showed great interest in how our research contributes to safer and smarter mobility.

Our junior drivers were guided in the capabilities of the University of Leeds Driving Simulator
It was a fantastic day of public engagement, showcasing how cutting‑edge research can be brought to life for the next generation. More images from the day can be found below, a huge thanks to Ibrahim, Albert, Yuwei and Yee Thung, as well as the wider Be Curious team for their support in making this day happen!
