Virtuocity's Vision Zero Heroes Present Their Findings

Our team (represented by Dr Yue Yang, Dr Íbrahim Öztürk, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yee Mun Lee) was proud to take part in the Vision Zero Conference organised by Leeds City Council and West Yorkshire Combined Authority at Millennium Square.

Yue Yang presented our The Road Safety Trust–funded project Autistic Children Matter: Addressing Road Crossing Challenges from Multiple Perspectives, and İbrahim Öztürk shared the UKRI-funded impact project and the The Road Safety Trust-funded e-SAFE and ENDS projects. All of our projects are designed to generate evidence-based solutions that inform real-world change. We also hosted a booth to showcase Virtuocity, our state-of-the-art simulation and research facility, and how it supports innovation in transport safety.

Yue said “I was deeply impressed by the commitment, determination, and progress demonstrated by Leeds City Council and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority in advancing towards the goal of eliminating road fatalities. It is a privilege for our team to play a part in this vital mission, and I look forward to contributing to more initiatives and collaborations that make a real difference and bring us closer to safer roads for all.”

Ibrahim said "Achieving Vision Zero across West Yorkshire is a regional priority, and we are fortunate to be collaborating with such dedicated teams at Leeds City Council and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority on this important mission. Our team is proud to contribute to this through various projects that address different components of the traffic system"

Yee Mun added “We are very proud to be Vision Zero Heroes, working closely with LCC and WYCA to march towards this goal—while ensuring that marginalised groups of road users are not forgotten. By integrating our human factors expertise into road user education, training, and evidence-based infrastructure design, we aim to promote inclusiveness and safety for all.”
