In order to investigate the traffic system in all its complexity, it is elementary to take all participants into account, including pedestrians and cyclists, the so-called Vulnerable Road Users (VRU). As simulator developers and users, we are facing a range of challenges: Providing sufficient cues for human perception to allow for realistic behaviour, designing appropriate simulators, simulation software and scenarios, developing effective training procedures, defining the right metrics to measure e. g. simulator sickness, presence, and task performance, conducting studies to find answers to current research questions… and many more! In this workshop we bring together international specialists in the field of human centered VRU simulation from industry and research institutions to provide knowledge and share their insights.

Following two successful and engaging workshops at the DLR Institute of Transportation Systems in Germany, the Virtuocity team are excited to be the 2024 hosts for this event. The workshop has an informal setting to encourage detailed discussions and networking between the participants. If you are interested in attending or actively contributing to the workshop with a presentation, please complete the form at the bottom of the page by 31st March 2024. Formal invitations and further details will be sent out in April 2024.
